"...a versatile sound that incorporates everything from modern groove to world jazz." - MOJA Radio
Bobb Fantauzzo has developed a unique voice on the Native American style flute. It is the feel of contemporary jazz voiced through the dulcet tonalities of wooden flutes.
Labeled an innovator on the Native American style flute, Fantauzzo is known for pushing the boundaries of the instrument, bringing a vitality and intensity to his music. His versatility has provided him the opportunities to perform alongside noted musicians in a wide range of genres – from R. Carlos Nakai to Irv Williams and from Delfeayo Marsalis to the Violent Femmes.
In addition to performing as a soloist, Fantauzzo is the leader of JazZen, a Twin Cities based trio that performs original jazz voiced through the organic tonalities of world flutes (Fantauzzo) and the rhythmic undercurrents of electric cello (Aaron Kerr) and drums (Derrin Pinto). With their unique sound and musical creativity, JazZen creates a unique sound that is a blending of East Coast blues and West Coast cool.
"...a unique sound that is both holy and hip... the integration of an almost prayerful melodicism suggestive of Charles Lloyd with a more forward-thrusting, free-wheeling improvisational approach that echoes Coltrane, Davis, Shorter and Coleman." - Jazz Police
